Advancing Democracy and Civil Society

Advancing democracy means improving structures and processes within the democratic and constitutional system. We believe in the empowerment of information multipliers, groups, societies and initiatives within civil society.

We do that primarily by giving the international Johann-Philipp-Palm-Award for Freedom of Speech and the Press:

We´re also supporting projects and groups in the field of education and media training. Democracy starts small. Its core principles have to be reclaimed again and again. Together with a lot of partners and the variety of local civil society we´re adressing ourselves to that task.

Please note: According to German law we are

not working internationally - just in Germany
not supporting individuals - just organisations or institutions

Only exception to this rule is the international Johann-Philipp-Palm-Award for Freedom of Speech and the Press.

There is no entitlement to the right of support by the Palm-Foundation. The Board´s decision about the support of a project or organisation is final.
